GRID – Consulting Engineers, was established in 1980, with head office in Avª. João Crisóstomo, 25 3º e 4º andar in Lisbon, and with branch offices in Macao and Funchal (Madeira).

GRID specialized mainly in structural engineering, in particular bridges, tunnels, buildings and special structures, namely, structures for stadiums, towers and chimneys and large span roof structures.Its activity is developed in the fields of design and consultancy, as well as special studies like wind and seismic analyses including soil-structure interactions.

GRID has a permanent group of consultants that enables the execution of other expertise field areas including geotecnical and geological studies, highway engineering, hydraulics, electrical and mechanical services engineering, technical-economical studies and associated architectural offices.

GRID has been involved in innumerous studies and projects in Portugal, Madeira, Azores, Macao, Angola, Cape Verde, Egypt, Mozambique, Saudi Arabia, Uruguay and Yugoslavia. GRID employs highly qualified staff, including engineers, economists, draught men and administrative personnel forming a team of more than 40 people.

The Technical Director of GRID is Professor António Reis, graduated in civil engineering in 1972 by Instituto Superior Técnico from Technical University of Lisbon, and PhD by University of Waterloo in Canada in 1977. He is full Professor of Bridges and Structural Engineering at the Technical University of Lisbon. Within the scope of his activity as consultant engineer, he has been involved since 1972 in a variety of projects of special structures and long span bridges, including balanced cantilever bridges, composite bridges and cable stayed bridges.
